Now that I've found the time for repeated listening a small review:

Nice work, very listenable. I especially like the "House of Turkish Delights" track as well as the vocoder sounds and the spoken word passages (though the 2nd track is a little bit too much dancefloor for me).

All things considered I'd say: solid work, but I'd love to hear some more adventurous, experimental, some more "far out" parts - a little bit too much "mainstream" for my taste... But don't get me wrong, I still like that music a lot. And very nice artwork and a good production b.t.w.

Damaged Tape - Ship of Lights (US 2008)

This is the latest work of Dr. Schluss' electronic music project, DAMAGED TAPE – which is by the same guy who is also responsible for some great neo-Psych music under the name of GLAZE OF CATHEXIS. There's lots of analog synthi/moog sounds to be found here, so if that's your scene, you should really check it out. Not really ambient, more electro pop, but quite relaxing, and never boring – recommended especially for fans of the late 70s french band SPACE.

Andrew Bland - Paper Fences (US 2006)

PAPER FENCES started as a project in October 2005 as Andrew Bland and Matt Comegys (aka Dr. Schluss) wanted to try making music together for the first time in a few years. Soon they were joined by some fellow musicans to help them out and add some more colour. Stylisticly somewhere between psych-folk and improvised experimentalism this 2cd work comes out as a very nice, quite relaxing, psychedelic homemade piece of art. I especially like the occasional trumpet playing (by Rob Cash), that makes this music sound like nothing else that I've heard up until now. Recommended listening!

The last web-release of Dr. Schluss' GLAZE OF CATHEXIS – and what a fine one: pure 60s style garage psych, heavely influenced by our favourite Nuggets-bands with an occasional nod to the 80s neo psych garage bands. But this isn't just some retro sound. Dr. Schluss' very own, remarkable voice and singing style gives all those songs that little extra, that reveals that this here is a contemporary piece of art. Very listenable and quite remarkable! Recommended!

My favourite tracks: "Future Quake" and the somewhat Byrds-y "I've Been Flying". (Trip-o-meter: 4 out of 5.)

Damaged Tape - Electric Ocean (US 2004)

Another cool recording of Dr. Schluss' electronic project DAMAGED TAPE. "These recordings are actually my first serious attempts at electronic music, and I'm still very happy with them for the most part. They have a groovy dirty analog sound that I dig, and I've never been able to make music quite so AIR-like (as in the French band) since I made this stuff." (Quote from Dr. Schluss).

I absolutely agree, though I also can detect a strong KLAUS SCHULZE and TANGERINE DREAM influence. This stuff is great. I like it even more than his other, newer electronic release "Stone God". The only thing I have to critizise: Some of the tracks could be a little bit longer (first of all my favourite song "Space-Time Tear".

Damaged Tape - Stone God (JP 2008)

DAMAGED TAPE is the electronic music project of the musical mind of GLAZE OF CATHEXIS (aka Dr. Schluss). "Stone God" is not an extremely experimental recording; it is rather relaxing and makes one feel quite comfortable. Ideal for cooling down after some hard day of labour (or whatever...).

Soundwise it is rooted a little bit too much in the 80's synthesizer and drum sound for my taste (reminding me somehow of the late TANGERINE DREAM, whose later work I like much less than their earlier stuff), but nevertheless "Stone God" is a good work, that grows with every new listen. And the guitar playing is great, indeed reminding of one Mr. D. Gilmour's style.

(By the way, Dr. Schluss, I miss your Trip-o-Meter valuations for your work. I'd say 3,5 out of 5).
