HOMEMADE LOFI PSYCH --- WHERE TO START?

"There is so much great music here..." WHERE TO START???

I recommend to start with the HLFP-Samplers (especially HLFP 04).
Here you will come to know many of the bands/musicians featured in this blog. If you like what you hear, you may check out more of their music later on.
(You may also click on the picture on the sidebar and you will find the original post with download links.)

There is also a "FOCUS ON..." section. Here you will find albums that imo are absolutely great (***** = "five-stars-recordings") and that are essential listening and strongly recommended for download.

I TRY to RE-UP some stuff that has been down from time to

time, but I still don't have enough time to

listen to/post much new stuff.

Sorry!

Orange Is In - Come And Take It (US 2007)

George Kovacik sent me a link and asked me to post the second album of ORANGE IS IN from Texas, USA. So here we go!
"Come And Take It" was recorded in 2007 and is still available at CD Baby, so if you like the band, please support those guys and buy it there.

"ORANGE IS IN brings together a variety of disparate influences – including 60's pop, 80's post punk and rootsy Texas rock – to create a sound that is uniquely their own. It is energetic rock with a decidedly mature sensibility. In true Texas fashion 'Come And Take It' ... dares listeners to leave the pop music herd behind and head for the greener pastures of hard-driving American rock..." (Quote from: CD Baby)
This of course ain't psychedelic music!

ORANGE IS IN - Come And Take It (2007)
(mp3-zip, 6 tracks, 27 min, 35,9 MB)
Get it HERE or buy it at CD Baby.

The first ORANGE IS IN cd is still available for download here.

Orange Is In - Another Lame Semi-Tragedy (USA 2006)

George Kovacik, the singer from ORANGE IS IN (no connection to the German psychedelic grunge band ORANGE b.t.w.!), sent me a mail and asked me to post this recording if I liked it. Well, I do – though the music of ORANGE IS IT is neither psychedelic nor lofi. It's straight-forward powerful American contemporary rock, featuring the strong voice of Kovacik that is reminding somehow of Bruce Springsteen and also Elvis Costello. (But so what? I mean, one can't listen to UMMAGUMMA all the time...)

The band formed in 2002 and is from Houston, TX, where they seem to have won quite a lot of fans as a very good live band. "Another Lame Semi-Tragedy" is their first full-lenght CD. They also have a newer recording out, "Come and Take It", from July 2007. Sadly the very competent violinist Amy Price has left the band recently.

If you like the band, PLEASE SUPPORT THE ARTISTS! Check out their offical site and Myspace.
