Astrosound - Welcome Back In Space (GER 2010)
ASTROSOUND is one of the many projects of German neo-krautrockers STOLLE AND MEMBER (in this case: Member), that is featured on http://emptyblaukraut.blogspot.com/. On their blog you'll find many of their different bands and projects (all free to download) dedicated to the exploration of various forms of krautrock – from free-form-freak-out-improvisations to electronic space drones and any other style loosely associated with the term "krautrock".
STOLLE AND MEMBER are also featured on the 2nd HLFP-Sampler EMBRYO THOUGHTS, and any track from this ASTROSOUND release would surly not have been out of place on the recent HLFP-Sampler SPACE IS STILL THE PLACE.

A: We are from Frankfurt/M Germany

A: We are Heiko, Thomas & Member, that is reality enough ....
Q: Who involved? Who played what?
A: Heiko played Analog Synths & Drum Machines, Samples, Effects, Guitar and Voice,
Thomas played Guitar, massive various Effect Units and Voice,
Member played Analog Synths & Drum Machines, Organ, Melodica, Effects, Bass and Voice
Q: How recorded?
A: This Session was recorded on 8 Tracks via Zoom R16. Everyone Got 2 Tracks + 2 Tracks Room Sound (!) It's a spontaneous & improvised Live Session, just first takes, no overdubs. Original it was three long tracks. I mixed them and editet them into 12 pieces ...

A: 2.9.2010 (= September 9th 2010)
Q: What's your favourite track on the album? Why?
A: Favourite Track??? Don't know... I like "In Space" because it's a short piece with nice melodica, and I like "Wir Fliegen Los" because it represents the Astrosound very well.

A: There is some more music of Astrosound on
and there is some music from Amphibius (Member & Thomas) on
Q: Since when does this band/project exist?
A: This Project existed from 1997 to 2000. This Trio Incarnation existed only in the Beginning in 1997. This is a Reunion Session. We want to make some more Sessions and a few gigs and then we will see if anything more will happen ...
Q: Any previous/other bands worth mentioning?
A: I met Heiko during my late times with the experimental music project "Lay De Fear". During this time I was heavily infected with electronic music and got a huge fascination to old analog synthesizers and drum machines, also in these times I slowly got infected by the TECHNO Virus and wanted to make some live Techno with old electronic equipment. I met Heiko, who was a Blues Guitar Player in these times and he had something similar in mind. In 1997 we got our first real analog synthesizers and immediately we started Astrosound together with Thomas, a friend of Heiko. Thomas, at this time got some health proplems - he could not play in smoke filled rooms and spaces there people did drugs, but Heiko and me want to play at raves, in techno clubs and parties – a drug influenced scene at that time and so Thomas quitt his job in the end of 1997 and me and Heiko did Astrosound as a duo for some time.
Q: How'd you "label" your music? (I know... nobody wants to get labeled... bla bla bla...)
A: We are too spaced out, to call our music techno, it's electronic SPACE music, very psychedelic ...
Q: What is "psychedelic music" for you?
A: Music that expands your (my) mind, the most music that is labeled "psychedelic" didn't expand my mind, but some music nobody declares as psychedelic can expand my mind. It depends on your experience and your point of view.

Danny Spacecat - Moon Ghosts EP (UK 2010)
DANNY SPACECAT should be no stranger to you regular blog-readers (ahhm - Is there such a thing as a "regular blog-reader" somewhere out there?) since he already contributed 2 songs to two Homemade-Lofi-Psych-Samplers: The Probe for HLFP 02 EMBRYO THOUGHTS and the excellent opener The Journey Begins (how could I resist?) for the recent one, HLFP 05 SPACE IS STILL THE PLACE.
I have to say, I really dig this cat! I really love those space psych soundscapes that are clearly reminiscent of late 70's and mid 80's space psych/space rock.
This ep here was first released on the feedback loop label.

A: All sorts (mainly anything from the sixties or post punk liverpool scene 79-84) but for this EP I'd say the biggest influence was 'Baltic Fleet'.

Lunar Testing Lab - Unauthorized Frequencies EP (USA 2010)
LUNAR TESTING LAB is Eric Watson from Beaver Falls, PA.
Another excellent "space lounge music" release by LUNAR TESTING LAB, who is also featured with one track on the recent HLFP 05-Sampler SPACE IS STILL THE PLACE.
"The idea behind it (= Unauthorized Frequencies) was to make an EP using a bunch of samples from 45rpm records. Then I made limited edition cdr's (13 copies which came in 7 inch sleeves) and each one came with one of the 45's that I sampled. So whoever ordered one got a piece of the source material. The cdr had 10 tracks, so they also got 3 bonus songs."

Tadoma - 2 tracks from 'Field Notes' (USA 2010)
TADOMA's instrumental music is very much inspired by early krautrock bands like POPOL VUH or CLUSTER.
He is from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA.

"Tadoma is the work of Joe Patitucci, multi instrumentalist and a fixture in the Philadelphia music scene for the last ten years. Progressing from his early poppy tendencies (Asteroid #4, Hi-Soft) to sprawling post-rock (Diagram) Patitucci finds himself now creating the dense visual soundscapes that make up Tadoma's debut EP, Field Notes.
Field Notes EP:
(...) Tadoma’s 2010 release, Field Notes, presents the listener with a kind of sonic slideshow. Places reveal themselves through a fog of reverb and drones as tracks seamlessly move us from one image to the next. Each piece weaves melodies through sounds the way memory is entwined in our senses. They feel familiar but confounding, leading us to listen further and find new places within ourselves.
Live Performance

HLFP 05: SPACE IS STILL THE PLACE
As announced, here it is: the next homemade-lofi-psych-presents Sampler - HLFP 05 - this time featuring electronic ambient music and space psych for your next inner or outer space travel...
Almost all tracks are recordings exclusively for this sampler, some tracks are from forthcoming albums, some are excerpts from longer songs. You will find more recordings from (almost) all the musicians featured on HLFP 05 on HLFP! So you got absolutely no excuse for not checking them out, if you like what you hear!

Modo - small hours (UK 2001-2009)
The man behind MODO is the same guy who is running the project PEDRO AGNO (see post below).
Q: Where exactly are you from?
A: Milton Keynes UK - it's built really simply like a grid and tourists find it confusing.
Q: Do you want your real name mentioned? If so: What is your real name?
A: You should never reveal your real name...
Q: How recorded?
A: Most of the instruments were recorded by plugging a 1/8" jack-plug into my soundcard, but some sounds were softsynths, so i was able to use them directly from the sequencer.
Q: When recorded?
A: I've been recording this stuff for years - since 2001. It is only more recently that the tracks started to take form and become more identifiable as to what style or which other tracks they belong with.
Q: Who involved? Who played what?
A: I like to get local musicians in as much as possible to vary the flavour a bit whilst keeping the core ideologies of the group intact, but the lion's share is done by me in collaboration with some of my invisible friends.
Q: Any more releases? Any "official" releases?
A: Well my record label have recently released a new album for the ninth tentacle, which is a more energetic project than mine - I like to bob along gently - those boys like to race a bit.
Q: Since when does this band/project exist (are you into music)?
A: Hmm, that's tricky... I suppose I would have to say since the release of Trolleys really, as I wasn't playing live before that - just home and studio, so 2009! (has it really been that long already!?)
Q: Any previous bands worth mentioning?
A: I have been involved in a fringe-capacity with recording work on the Mucky Badger album that is due to appear later on this year sometime. That was really exciting - Mucky has a very strange outlook on what sound is so the project appealed to my sense of humour.
Q: How'd you "label" your music?
A: Musicians HATE being Labelled! But i know what it's like trying to organise your mp3's, so I'd say it's loosely something like bedroom lo-fi psychedelic music for the bit that comes after the excitement but before the chillout.
Q: Influences?
A: Air are an enormous influence, at least for Premiers Symptomes which they have never surpassed. I also like chilling out to Loop Guru's disc 'the Third Chamber' - it is a serene masterpiece and I never want it out of my collection!
Q: Is there a special running order of the tracks?
A: There's, at the most, a very loose order - modern audiences are much less likely than we were in the past to listen to a whole album at once, so the idea of a tracklisting has almost gone out of the window. However, ambient music is one of the key exceptions to this rule as people usually want to leave it running whether they fall asleep or zone out or get on with whatever they are doing. I think the one that begins with a telephone dialing sound is my personal favourite one to begin listening with and I like to finish with the one with the horse and footsteps and vehicles at the end, but apart from that, no there is no real order to the tracks, they can be used in any order or even more than one at a time if you are brave!

A: OTL - the name used by our main studio guy when he does his remixes and stuff. It looks like a few things and it could stand for a few things... I like to get people to guess.
