A: recorded HFOJ in NOLA with this one-track tape recorder that everybody's rockin nowadays, um, it's a Sony

A: they were both recorded in Mid-July of this year (2010), "A" was on the 15th and "B" was on the 16h ... I think

A: it's just me playing some cheapo casio keysboardzzzzzz

A: got's lots of recordings/potential releases, but this is the very first of my solo work that's being shown to the masses;;;; thinkin 'bout doin some self-releasing pretty soon ... maybe/hopefully

Almost all tracks are recordings exclusively for this sampler, some tracks are from forthcoming albums, some are excerpts from longer songs. "There is not much to say about myself, i am generally nomadic, i do not play "venues" and never on a schedule. I perform mainly to the woods, the streams and, on occasion, the random hiker. Traveling the coast of the Pacific Northwest between San Simeon, California and Blaine, Washington setting up as i feel necessary and adding my melodies to the already beautiful arrangement that my company provides. All recordings are done via cassette or reel to reel... and am in the process of recording new works to be released in cassette format (and possibly cd, but the sound is ruined when made digital)."

FREE REIN come from Oakland, CA, USA. The band exists since late 2008, and the members play "Theremin, waterphone, 6 string bass, tapes (...), wind instruments, percussion" and also occasionally do some vocals.

"Moon Signs Sigh" is a rather quiet, beautiful minimalistic piece of improvised music - with assorted percussion and bells and flute harmonizing perfectly, floating along seemingly not of this world...

"Two Leaves Live" includes two long tracks with almost 30 minutes each and is similar in style to "Moon Signs Sigh": beautiful improvised, rather quiet music. Nothing for rock/garage/noise fans of course, but may appeal to fans of the more experimental, ethnic kraut bands like POPOL VUH or DZYAN.

'Spells' was recorded April - August 2008 in a cabin at the Omega Institute outside of Rhinebeck, New York. The KID PRIMITIVE FAMILY is based in Chicago, IL.

"KID PRIMITIVE is devoted to the great god Pan.

KID PRIMITIVE is using natural magick to harmonize with nature." (MySpace)

"All of the spells were created on a 4-track looper and then bounced on to a 4-track cassette recorder where the main vocal was recorded. (...) Each spell was created with a specific magickal process; the song channels in from source and I record it. Then for a week or so, the spell repeats over and over in my mind like a mantra. Then, when the time is right, I perform the spell in front of an audience. I clear the space and then I ask the audience to participate in the casting of the spell by letting me use their psychic energy to help power the intention. (...)" (info from 'Spells' Insert)

We're Late For Class - # 30: The Jim Morrison Seance Tapes (USA, March 2008)

 

"We're not sure how the idea hatched but we know the concept doesn't need much of a set up... it's a live space improvisation during a Jim Morrison seance. Why not!? It's cheaper than a living singer (classified ads, lodging, alcohol) and besides... you know how lead singers are to deal with. Since Bono isn't dead yet, we thought, who better than poet/philosopher/comedian Jim Morrison? And so you don't think this is just something we slapped together with old recordings and ProTools, listen for yourself as the engineer asks Jim for the "post-death stuff... the stuff without copyrights." For those that don't buy the premise, we've included a bonus, 14-minute instrumental mix (minus Jim) from when it was called "Message From Fornax" for a few hours. In the end, Jimbo was fun, even if he did sound like he was drunk in Paris. It went smoother than our Screamin' Jay Hawkins seance, anyway. CRANK THE VOLUME of the MP3 player and listen to it all. Recorded March 15-16, 2008."

Andi Paulo - Acoustic Loops, Live Neonfest (GER 2005)

ANDI PAULO has been around the alternative music scene in the south-west of Germany for more than twenty years.

Starting as a folk-oriented busker and instrument maker in the Heidelberg area he has been moving around a lot – for years living in his own van/mobile studio. He is now based in rural Palatinate.

 

Andi's instrumental range is wide: He plays acoustic and electric string instruments like dulcimer and mandolin, various wind instruments, several of them conceived and crafted by himself, as well as ethnic drums and lots of homemade percussions.

 

10 years ago Andi started combining ethnic and folk tunes with electronic sounds and loops. This lead to the production of his first – and up to day only – CD "Talking Yoghurt", relaesed in 2003. The first edition of 1.500 copies sold well and is now out of print – a second edition is being planned at the moment.
