HOMEMADE LOFI PSYCH --- WHERE TO START?

"There is so much great music here..." WHERE TO START???

I recommend to
start with the HLFP-Samplers (especially HLFP 04).
Here you will come to know many of the bands/musicians featured in this blog. If you like what you hear, you may check out more of their music later on.
(You may also click on the picture on the sidebar and you will find the original post with download links.)

There is also a "FOCUS ON..." section. Here you will find albums that imo are absolutely great (***** = "five-stars-recordings") and that are essential listening and strongly recommended for download.

I TRY to RE-UP some stuff that has been down from time to

time, but I still don't have enough time to

listen to/post much new stuff.

Sorry!

Zero Nowhere - Floriculture EP + Bonus (PL 2010)

ZERO NOWHERE is a one-man home-recording project from Lublin, Poland.
The music is instrumental, rather dark, slow guitar driven psychedelic/post rock music with some stoner/doom elements.
One can definitely detect a slight late 60s psychedelic punk influence (e.g. the main guitar riff on Pinewoods suggests the STOOGES on valium, without Iggy), but this is far from being a retro 60s sound.
Quite interesting for fans of the darker side of psych/stoner music.
Check it out!

The National Orchestra of the United Kingdom of Goats - The Chronicles of Sillyphus (IT 2011)

According to Myspace (http://www.myspace.com/orchestraofukog) THE NATIONAL ORCHESTRA OF THE UNITED KINGDOM OF GOATS is from Italy (or South Tyrol?).

Don't know if that info is correct. There isn't much info around for those strange guys. Anyway, their sound is described as "symphonic grind pop", and I think If you like bands as diverse as DREAM THEATER, PINK FLOYD or even VOIVOD you might actually like them and should give it a try.

Their music is very well produced and the playing is excellent.

They have a second album out now, also for free download that is similar in style, The Three Walls of Kolepta, again kind of a prog-metal concept mini album. Check it out on their bandcamp site below.

"The National Orchestra of the United Kingdom of Goats has formed to cure the pain and darkness from all the lost souls that mindlessly roam this world. These four heroes have set out to tell the one true story. The one story that will save a great many and destroy the ones already far beyond redemption. Close all doors, light a candle - and kill the ones in charge."

released 26 April 2011
Kid's Garden is:
George Clanton- Vox/Rhythm
John Sgroi- Lead
Nick Webb- Bass
Chris Straub- Drum

"Kid's Garden debuted with the album "Further" in 2007 on the website "George De Large's Music To Take Drugs To" blog (now defunct).

It was given away for free and generated a relatively large number of listeners on Last FM (http://www.last.fm/music/Kid's%2520Garden)

Since then there was only one other song ("Lord, Amen" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2Xw1mzcTT10) released with very little distribution.

Last month we announced we played the first show ever as a band after 4 years, and announced a preorder for an upcoming 12" vinyl EP to be released this summer.

The preorder was successful, generating nearly $500 (http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1471123704/kids-garden-mirror-kisses-split-album-on-vinyl), which is half of the total cost of printing.

The record (entitled 'Light Hearted') is being pressed as we speak, and will be coming out soon. To ease some of the anticipation for this long-time-coming release,

we are giving away a free 3-track single on bandcamp, called Don't Call Me Yours. thats what I sent you. (kidsgarden.bandcamp.com)

Kid's Garden is a 4 piece band from Harrisonburg, Virginia (USA) just beginning to perform live. We will be performing around the east coast of the US all summer long.

thats pretty much the whole story in a nut shell! All of the music was written and recorded by me in my basement apartment."
