HOMEMADE LOFI PSYCH --- WHERE TO START?

"There is so much great music here..." WHERE TO START???

I recommend to
start with the HLFP-Samplers (especially HLFP 04).
Here you will come to know many of the bands/musicians featured in this blog. If you like what you hear, you may check out more of their music later on.
(You may also click on the picture on the sidebar and you will find the original post with download links.)

There is also a "FOCUS ON..." section. Here you will find albums that imo are absolutely great (***** = "five-stars-recordings") and that are essential listening and strongly recommended for download.

I TRY to RE-UP some stuff that has been down from time to

time, but I still don't have enough time to

listen to/post much new stuff.

Sorry!

Glaze of Cathexis - The Visions Surround You (JP/US 2008)

The last web-release of Dr. Schluss' GLAZE OF CATHEXIS – and what a fine one: pure 60s style garage psych, heavely influenced by our favourite Nuggets-bands with an occasional nod to the 80s neo psych garage bands. But this isn't just some retro sound. Dr. Schluss' very own, remarkable voice and singing style gives all those songs that little extra, that reveals that this here is a contemporary piece of art. Very listenable and quite remarkable! Recommended!
My favourite tracks: "Future Quake" and the somewhat Byrds-y "I've Been Flying". (Trip-o-meter: 4 out of 5.)

Thanks for the post and the short review! I'm glad you dig the tunes. I wrote the framework and riff for "I've Been Flying" all the way back in middle school. I dig the track too, although I managed a lot of little mistakes in it, so I'm glad to hear it highlighted.

I did some more lo-fi psych with a buddy of mine a few years back. I think it might be even more up your alley. I play on about half the songs on "Paper Fences." Here's the link:

Here's the second half again (after the .com)if you're having trouble copying:
