HOMEMADE LOFI PSYCH --- WHERE TO START?

"There is so much great music here..." WHERE TO START???

I recommend to
start with the HLFP-Samplers (especially HLFP 04).
Here you will come to know many of the bands/musicians featured in this blog. If you like what you hear, you may check out more of their music later on.
(You may also click on the picture on the sidebar and you will find the original post with download links.)

There is also a "FOCUS ON..." section. Here you will find albums that imo are absolutely great (***** = "five-stars-recordings") and that are essential listening and strongly recommended for download.

I TRY to RE-UP some stuff that has been down from time to

time, but I still don't have enough time to

listen to/post much new stuff.

Sorry!

Mad Magic - Mad Magic (GER 1992)

No psychedelic music today!
MAD MAGIC evolved out of a party cover band from Mainz, Germany, called FURY'S RIDE, that played JIMI HENDRIX-, ROLLING STONES-, early KINKS- and YARDBIRDS-songs and the like. FURY'S RIDE was active in the late 1980s, early 1990s, and when guitarist Hans Frommer wrote more and more songs and the band played more gigs in the Rhein-Main area, the name was changed to MAD MAGIC.
Without a doubt Hans Frommer was the central figure in the band. He played a solid rock guitar in ROLLING STONES or KINKS fashion (or even, more relaxed, the DOOBIE BROTHERS), wrote songs with great hooklines and melodies, reminding of his old heroes, with an occasional reggae rhythm thrown in for a change. And most of all his voice and singing style brings to mind STEVE MILLER in his prime.
MAD MAGIC played some festivals, concerts and private partys near Mainz and even made a small tour through the south of France – and then split after a few years in the mid-nineties.

Some Re-Ups

Hi there! Here are some Re-ups for you. Finally. I know that I promised that a long time ago.

When I started this little music blog many years ago – in January 2008 – I would've never believed that even in the year 2024 there still would be some visitors almost every day. And so I decided that I should at least re-upload some of the older stuff that has been down for quite some time.
So enjoy it!

Check the original posts for details and more information. More to come – from time to time.

Hans Frommer with J.K. Decker (GER) Web-TV, Giga United

Hans Frommer sent me a mail to tell me about his last web-tv appearance on Giga United, Germany, with his old friend Jürgen Decker. Surely not psychedelic, but if you like good, solid rock music you should definitly have a listen.
They play 2 songs; the first one is called "Do you believe" and the second one, well, you all will know that one – it surely doesn't need an introduction...

Hans sent me his latest work, a nice ballad, quite right for Christmas time... Enjoy!

Hans Frommer - Home recordings/Stags - 7" (GER./1978)

HANS FROMMER played in many different bands since he was 14. He per-formed gigs in American GI music clubs in Germany (around Frankfurt a. M.) ever since 1969. Ten years later he released his first LP with his band THE STAGS: "Don't Shoot!"  (1979) and also
released a single: "Keep On Movin'/Please Don't Go" in 1978, which is now rare as hell.
The greatest hour of the STAGS probably came, when
they had the chance to open for HERMAN BROOD and INGA RUMPF in a music club, called Wartburg, in Wiesbaden in 1977.
More different band projects followed (e.g. FURY'S RIDE and MAD
MAGIC in the early 1990s), playing mostly Rock'n'Roll and Blues/Blues-Rock cover songs, but HANS also started to write more and more of his own material. In 1996 HANS recorded a CD with FAME in Offenbach, featuring Rock'n'Roll songs of the 1950s, but he quit playing live in 1999 and is now recording songs all by his own in his little home recording studio in Stockstadt, Aschaffenburg. "It's only Rock'n'Roll... but I Like it..." (quote Hans Frommer). And so do we!
Listening to his new and old songs, we are once again reminded of now forgotten bands (only joking!) like the DOOBIE BROTHERS, THE ALLMAN BROTHERS or the STEVE MILLER BAND. Enjoy!
