HOMEMADE LOFI PSYCH --- WHERE TO START?

"There is so much great music here..." WHERE TO START???

I recommend to
start with the HLFP-Samplers (especially HLFP 04).
Here you will come to know many of the bands/musicians featured in this blog. If you like what you hear, you may check out more of their music later on.
(You may also click on the picture on the sidebar and you will find the original post with download links.)

There is also a "FOCUS ON..." section. Here you will find albums that imo are absolutely great (***** = "five-stars-recordings") and that are essential listening and strongly recommended for download.

I TRY to RE-UP some stuff that has been down from time to

time, but I still don't have enough time to

listen to/post much new stuff.

Sorry!

(mp3 zip, 27 tracks, 56 min, artwork incl., 65,5 MB)
Get it here (Crocko) or here (RS)!

Regular blog readers will certainly already be familiar with Will Treffry's music recorded under the name PANEYE as well as BRIRSTLES ON THE CARAPACE (see below). In fact he is one of my favourite musicians featured here on HLFP. I simply love those dreamy, very atmospheric electronic soundscapes.
Strongly recommended!

Also check out:

PANEYE is also featured on HLFP 04 SOUND EXPLOSIONS

Favourite track: The whole thing! Well, maybe "Misery Portholes", which sounds especially great to my ears.

Enjoy!

EL (D) & MAIKA WHITE BIRD (D) 19.11.2011 Live in Offenbach, Waggon

For our German readers:

EL live im WAGGON 19.11.11

Dies ist eine Einladung zu einem Konzert im wundervollen Waggon in Offenbach, Mainstr. 100. Weitere Infos unter:

http://www.myspace.com/freedomsoonwillcome

"WHAT'S WITH ALL THE DEAD LINKS?"

Is this the end of HLFP?
Well not quite yet, I hope.
But anyway, the situation is as follows:
Still absolutely NOT ENOUGH TIME to post any "new" material.

"WHAT'S WITH ALL THE DEAD LINKS?"
Please write down in the comment section below which posts you'd like to see re-uploaded, and I'll see what I can do.

Thanks for your understanding.

GONE BALD (nl) + EPHEMEROL live Exzess, Frankfurt a.M., Ger. May 28 2011

Sa., 28.05./ 21:30.: GONE BALD (nl) + EPHEMEROL live in Frankfurt a.M., GER., EXZESS

http://www.myspace.com/gonebald

gekoppelte resonanzwellen ins all - irgendwo
zwischen experimental drone und ambient noise.

Zappi W. Diermaier & Jean-Hervé Peron (Faust) meet atelierTheremin & Michi Wehmeyer (Embryo) at * Zappis private radio show with guests * May 25

* Zappis private radio show with guests * in BERLIN

Zappi W. Diermaier & Jean-Hervé Peron (Faust) meet atelierTheremin & Michi Wehmeyer (Embryo)

Whenever members of the still-highly-prolific German Krautrock legend FAUST send out an invite, it’s about structures and musical boundaries to be blown up - and about expanding music into the domain of the gesamtkunstwerk (total work of art).

On may 25, Zappi W. Diermaier, founding member of Faust, will present sound recordings by congenial artists, mainly chosing material that is not released yet. Additionally, live-sets will be performed by Faust, by/with atelierTheremin and with help from organist Michi Wehmeyer of Embryo and Stahlband.

Designing the visual space on this event are Sigrun Drapatz (light installation) and Vadim Levin (VJ).

date: wednesday, May 25, 2011, 9pm

location: Theaterkapelle Friedrichshain, Boxhagener Str. 99, 10245 Berlin

--------------------------------------------xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx---------------------------

Wiki: http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Faust_(Band)

Wo geht's also Mi. abend hin? In die Theaterkapelle (Knochenbox), Boxhagener Str. 99, 10245 Berlin - Tram M10 / U5

Elvis Bordello - quantum condolences (SERBIA 2010)

Elvis Bordello - lo-fi vampire kicks (SERBIA 2010)

Here is some interesting electronic lo-fi experimental music by ELVIS BORDELLO, a one-man project from SERBIA. If you like the sound of analog synthies you may want to check this one out.

Q: Where exactly are you from?
A: Currently living in Krusevac, kinda of a small town in central Serbia (ex-Serbia and Montenegro, ex-Yugoslavia, ex-whatever) but hopefully moving to Belgrade in couple of months

Q: Do you want your real name mentioned?
A: My real name is Ivan Spasic. The name of the ‘band’ – Elvis Bordello, is a mix of Elvis Presley and Gogol Bordello although I really hate Gogol Bordello and regarding Elvis I’ll just use Laurie Andersons quote - I have never been one that hoped Elvis is still hanging around somewhere, hiding, but I will probably always expect to see Andy (Kaufman) reappear, someday.

Q: How recorded?
A: All the tracks recorded on my hard drive using my shitty integrated sound card. How lo-fi can you get?

Q: When recorded?
A: Recorded during the summer of 2010.

Q: Who involved? Who played what?
A: Well it’s a one man band. Elvis Bordello used all kinds of analog synths to please his delicate ear, hoping that pleasure he received is contagious.

Q: Any more releases?
A: Nope, but the future will bring some I hope
(In the meantime ELVIS BORDELLO has been quite busy. Many more songs are available via last.fm, see below - m-f)

Q: How'd you "label" your music?
A: Anyone can play

Q: Influences?
A: Italian b-horror and giallo movies atmosphere, Martin Rev, Yip-Yip and many more in a way.
Q: Anything that you think is interesting, that you'd like to inform the blog readers about...
A: The fundamental laws necessary for the mathematical treatment of a large part of physics and the whole of chemistry are thus completely known, and the difficulty lies only in the fact that application of these laws leads to equations that are too complex to be solved.
(Paul Dirac)
Same goes for music
(Elvis Bordello)

Wonder Wheel - IMHO/Deep in the Bottle (digital 7") (USA 2011)

"This is Paul A. Rosales and here is a quick sample of the Wonder Wheel band's first full-length album, Total Bundy.

The only recordings with the band have been a few live bootlegs and the Wonder Wheel and the Warriors Demonstration EP of July 2010. Raul, Danny and I have been working hard over the past few months to compile and refine these tracks.

A cassette release with Burger Records will be available Spring 2011 and we are looking through other outlets for CD + LP. (...)

For more info please visit the Wonder Wheel blog:

http://mywonderwheel.blogspot.com/

Enjoy!"

(Paul A. Rosales)

I haven't heard the complete album yet, but those two tracks here are among the best songs that I have heard so far from WONDER WHEEL.

Lucky Dragons remix of railcars 'Castles' created by Felix Ruttan

railcars Castles (Lucky Dragons Remix) from Imaginary Animal on Vimeo.

"... the final version of this amazingly trippy music video for the Lucky Dragons remix of 'Castles' created by Felix Ruttan (imaginary animal). ... the song itself is from this free railcars remix album featuring No Age, Xiu Xiu, Jeans Wilder, and more, which can be found here: http://ariajalali.com

... after this, there's a wholeeeee lot of new stuff from railcars coming out,

a couple 7"'s, a split, a cover of kate bush's album 'hounds of love' and an LP from a brand new side project, new tracks for the Deathbomb Arc digital singles club, etc.

- so, look for lots of news beginning to roll out over the next couple months.

Thanks so much guys, i love you all,"

Human Resources - Megabucks (USA 2010)

Some excellent, mostly instrumental psychedelic experimental music that somehow reminds me of RANGERS work (posted here) – yes, it's that good! – from a one man band project called HUMAN RESOURCES from Brooklyn, USA.

Q: Where exactly are you from?
A: I live in Brooklyn
Q: Do you want your real name mentioned? If so: What is your real name?
A: Jeremy Krinsley is my real name
Q: How recorded?
A: These are either straight live recordings or edits of live recordings, at home, on a small 7 channel mixer mixed down live to two channels straight into the computer
Q: When recorded?
A: june 2010-august2010 on about 10 different days... none of the tracks were recorded on more than one day, each was selected out of a long 1-2 hour session
Q: Who involved? Who played what?
A: i played everything, it's all loop and sample based, along with guitar, feedback loops, casio
Q: Any more releases?
A: you can check my other releases at: http://humanresourc.es -- a number of tape and cdr releases. and a seven inch is coming out soon on ghost hunters club co-op -- in mid fall
Q: Since when does this project exist?
A: human resources has been my solo outlet for 2 years
Q: How'd you "label" your music? (I know... nobody wants to get labeled... bla bla bla...)
A: i've been saying am/fm chance music, psychedelic music

A: nothing too fancy

Favourite track: Truffaut Loses His Hat

A limited c44 is (was?) available now for pre-order from House of Aragon records for $6.

Jack Jeffery - Passage to Agadir (USA 2006-2010)

JACK JEFFERY's album Passage to Agadir is a record of many different moods. It contains a variety of musical styles, ranging from acoustic folk (Acoustic Mojo) to FLOYDian space psych (Interstellar Echoes on the Dark Side, Passage to Agadir), from TALKING HEADS-style Wave-funk (Build it Up) and ENO-like pop-psych (Whiskey Burns) to more electronic and/or ambient music (Overture for Galaxies and Stars, Where's the Ambient Jam?).
A fantastic "compelling musical journey" (Indie Music Digest) indeed!
The arrangements are always tasteful, playing and recording are excellent. I especially like the occasional Gilmour-like guitar playing (Being Myself, Mind Horizon ...)
Recommended listening for psych heads!
Q: Where exactly are you from?
A: Washington DC area (northern Virginia)
Q: Do you want your real name mentioned? If so: What is your real name?
A: Sure. Jack Jeffery.
Q: How recorded?
A: The "Passage to Agadir" album was recorded in my home studio using the following gear: Martin HD-28 acoustic guitar, Epiphone Les Paul electric guitar, Marshall amp, Roland SH-201 synthesizer, Studio Projects B-1 large diaphragm condenser microphones, Shure SM-57 dynamic microphones, Adobe Audition 3.0 (digital audio workstation).
Q: When recorded?
A: At various times from 2006 to 2010. The title track "Passage to Agadir," for example, was recorded in early 2006, but "I Will Be There For You" (also on the album) was recorded in mid-2010.
Q: Who involved? Who played what?
A: This was a solo project in every sense of the word. I played every instrument, sang the vocals, and programmed some synthesizer, percussion, and special effects. I also produced and mastered the album, and designed the artwork for the CD itself.
Q: Any more releases?
A: Not yet, but am working on material for my next album. Hard to say when it will be released since still early in the process of writing songs.
Q: Since when does this project exist/are you into music?
A: Started recording in 2006, but have been playing music for over 20 years.
Q: Any previous bands worth mentioning?
A: Not really. Before this project, just played informally for fun (solo or with friends).
Q: How'd you "label" your music? (I know... nobody wants to get labeled... bla bla bla...)
A: Progressive/Psychedelic rock; Ambient. (But some Folk -- even Americana -- on the album!)
Q: Influences?
A: Pink Floyd, Alan Parsons, Brian Eno, The Beatles, The Moody Blues, Roger Waters, Syd Barrett, David Gilmour, Kraftwerk, Procol Harum, Electric Light Orchestra (ELO), Nick Drake, Ash Ra Tempel, Manuel Göttsching, Tangerine Dream, John Lennon, Neil Young, Crosby, Stills, & Nash, Stephen Stills, Paul Simon, Simon & Garfunkel, Yes, Rush
Q: Anything that you think is interesting, that you'd like to inform the blog readers about...
A: Just to say that it was great fun putting this project together, and I hope that you and your listeners enjoy it. The tracks on the album are sequenced to transport the listener on a trip seamlessly through ambient, psychedelic, electronic, acoustic, and folk rock soundscapes. Headphones highly recommended! Just hit play on your CD player and enjoy the journey! :-)
Lastly, on a philosophical note, the internet is the greatest thing to happen to the music industry in a long, long time. The landscape for all musicians now -- indie or otherwise -- is simply unlimited. For indie artists like myself, coverage on sites like yours makes all the difference -- we need your feedback and respect your opinions. Thanks for providing that valuble service to indie musicians.
Passage to Agadir is available from CD Baby at http://www.cdbaby.com/cd/jjeffery, iTunes, Amazon.com, and other online music outlets.
