HOMEMADE LOFI PSYCH --- WHERE TO START?

"There is so much great music here..." WHERE TO START???

I recommend to
start with the HLFP-Samplers (especially HLFP 04).
Here you will come to know many of the bands/musicians featured in this blog. If you like what you hear, you may check out more of their music later on.
(You may also click on the picture on the sidebar and you will find the original post with download links.)

There is also a "FOCUS ON..." section. Here you will find albums that imo are absolutely great (***** = "five-stars-recordings") and that are essential listening and strongly recommended for download.

I TRY to RE-UP some stuff that has been down from time to

time, but I still don't have enough time to

listen to/post much new stuff.

Sorry!

Caregiver - Caregiver (USA 2007)

The debut LP by CAREGIVER from 2007.
CAREGIVER is in fact the one-man-music-project of Darryl Robbins from Dayton, Ohio.

All of the LPs "were recorded in various manners with analog tape in my basement, but primarily to the computer. Some of the stuff used on them include guitars, basses, drums, Moog Modular, Minimoog, Mellotron, Mono/Poly, Poly 6, and small tape recorders. - The official releases are the self titled LP, Letters 1 & 2, and Afraid of Everything. Currently, I'm involved with no record labels at all. - I'd call the music electronic psychedelia I suppose. Influences include Tangerine Dream, Cluster, Neu!, Tim Hecker, Harmonia, Faust, Terry Riley, and Suicide. - Outside of this, I am the sole member of Peopleperson (instrumental guitar rock, like Link Wray meets Adrian Belew meets MX-80 Sound), a member of the Smug Brothers (lo-fi british style pop), the Motel Beds (pop/rock), Big Baby, and I'm also a virtual backing band for singer/songwriter Joe Anderl. The various myspace pages for these projects are...

Caregiver basically started when far too late in my life, I feel in love with classic electronic artists and began being a fan of some modern ones as well. I never thought of myself as an electronic music fan until I heard the stuff that made sense to me." (D. R.)

I hear especially a strong TANGERINE DREAM influence.
